This exquisite piece belongs to a series of illustrative portraitures of phenomenal women artists.
This illustration is an attempt to honor Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese contemporary artist who translates the hallucinations and obsessional images that plague her, into sculptures and paintings. It has been tried to depict the sophisticated world of Kusama through her portrait on the calendar with her famous paintings such as "Mushrooms" in the background. Kusama sees the world in 'polka dots' and her works are meant to immerse the viewer into her accumulations, obsessions, and repetitions. The delineation of her posture, facial expressions and artsy outfit altogether aim to elevate the entire vibrancy of the painting. The artwork symbolizes the importance of the human psyche in a material world.
