The Genesis of Persephone
Narratives empower existence like no other. With stories being the heart of our brand, Pouls.of.art, it was imperative to envision something to accompany our artistic space, to give the required narrative to it, in order to foster a community. It was at this juncture that Poulomi, the founder, came up with the concept of a newsletter. It acquired the name of “Persephone” because just how the Greek Goddess rules the Underworld and is the Queen of the dead but also the Goddess of spring and vegetation, this newsletter aims to explore both darkness and light in art and culture, symbolising the dichotomy of art, art that can tear someone’s heart out but also heal it like no other!

The Initial Idea
The inception of “Persephone” stemmed from our founder’s realisation that there’s a dearth of a canvas that allows room for different opinions and perspectives regarding art and how it influences culture or day-to-day lives. The idea was also to build a cozy corner for art enthusiasts to read about interesting stories about the world of artistic freedom including those discussions that might not be easily shared. That’s how Persephone came into being.
Crafting the Narrative
Persephone was important to share not only the narratives behind different artworks of different artists from all across the globe and art movements or history but also to craft something new for our own brand. It’s evident that while social media offers fleeting glimpses into what goes around while creating a new space for art, it often lacks depth.
A newsletter, however, provides ample opportunity for more intimate conversations and storytelling. Featuring exclusive interviews with artists from varied art styles like contemporary art, fusion art, street art, Kangra miniature art, Batik art etc., the newsletter aims to celebrate the transformative impact of art in our lives.
Over time, we enriched our content, incorporating behind-the-scenes glimpses, color palette explorations, and reflections on our creative challenges. To connect authentically with our audience, we have also started an initiative where people from our community can mail us their creative content and ideas for publication. The evolution aligned with advice from our team members and contributors who emphasize the significance of making things interesting and novel.
